Former Sears store in Barrie to be home to new Pickleball facility

CTV News – The north-end of Barrie is soon to be home to a new Pickleball sports facility.

The Pickleplex Social Club is readying to open its door in the former Sears department store at the Georgian Mall on January 25.

“We’re thrilled to bring Barrie its first dedicated pickleball facility,” said Steven Fry, co-founder and president of the Pickleplex.

“Pickleplex is not just about the sport of pickleball, it’s about building community, offering a fun and inclusive space for people to connect, stay active, and enjoy each other’s company,” he said. “This is a dream come true for me and my team, and we can’t wait to share it with Barrie.”

Pickleplex boasts with multiple indoor courts, and a welcoming atmosphere for social and competitive play. The space is designed to accommodate everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros, and will feature leagues, social events, and private rentals for families, friends, and businesses.
