The old Peavey Mart store in Galt is getting a new tenant.
Pickleplex Social Club, an indoor pickleball facility, is repurposing the space to serve as one of its new locations.
A representative from Pickleplex confirmed the news by phone Wednesday afternoon and indicated the goal is to open in the fall.
“Pickleplex was born from a simple love for pickleball and a big dream to create a place where everyone—no matter their background or skill level—has a place to play on the court,” the company’s website reads.
“What started as a passion project quickly turned into the fastest growing and largest network of pickleball facilities in Canada.”
The club currently has locations in Barrie, Belleville, Pickering and Windsor. The Barrie location opened in a former Sears store.
Over the next several months, it’ll open facilities in Thornhill, Vaughan, North York, Oshawa and Cambridge.
Peavey Mart, which sold tractor, farming and automotive supplies, shut its doors for good back in September after 24 years of operation. It was previously known as the Tractor Supply Company (TSC) before being bought by Peavey Industries in 2017.
The company shuttered all 90 of its Canadian stores after obtaining an order for creditor protection.
